Ynez School is well known for its tradition of academic excellence as evidenced by the recognition that it has received as a California Distinguished School in 2002, 2005, and 2020 as well as a California Title I Achieving School in 2005, 2006, and 2007. Along with an emphasis on academic development, Ynez School places a high value on the health of its students, receiving Bronze recognition in 2008, Silver recognition in 2010, and Bronze recognition in 2013 from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation in conjunction with the William Clinton Foundation, for its efforts to promote a school environment that encourages healthy eating and increased physical activity among its students and staff. In addition, Ynez School was named to the California Business for Education Excellence Honor Roll for 2012 and 2013. In addition, Ynez School became a Community School in 2023 and was also recognized by California PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) as a Platinum Implementation School, the highest award level, in for the 2024-25 School year.

Diversity is celebrated at Ynez School. The school’s population consists of students and staff with rich multicultural backgrounds. The staff believes that each student is unique and deserving of the best education that a strong and rigorous core curriculum in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science has to offer. Through high quality instruction, the goal for every student is to achieve or exceed grade level mastery of academic standards as we prepare students for college, careers, future readiness and participation in a very competitive global economy.

The staff at Ynez School is both hardworking and dedicated to the success of its students. With many experienced and knowledgeable teachers eager to make a difference for Ynez students, a student-centered approach is implemented which provides the students with an atmosphere where their social, emotional, and physical health and intellectual needs are championed.

Ynez School continues to be a beacon in the Monterey Park community throughout the years. We, at Ynez, pride ourselves on actively involving the parents and community in an ongoing quest for excellence. We believe these strong relationships and our endeavor to promote student agency and leadership are vital factors to student success.
